Black and White Images Win Out In Overcast Weather

Looking Glass Falls, NC – 50mm f1.8 Lens

Image #2, March 19, 2017

When photographing a lighter subject and not too much is going on around it, think B&W. Our eye normally goes to the brightest part of an image, so why not take advantage of that. It can turn a normal (read Plain Jane) into an interesting image. When overcast, the surrounding area detail also shows up. It sure shows up the ruggedness of the area. That can make the image better, as long as there are no white areas around the frame to draw they eye away.

This image is Looking Glass falls on US 276 in Transylvania County, a popular attraction as it can be photographed from the road. To avoid people wandering around your scene arrive early.
